Ligao Chen

November 20, 1934 — December 5, 2012

Ligao Chen, of Oak Hill, passed away Wednesday in Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness. Born November 20, 1934 in China, he was the son of the late Bao-cen and Shum Chen. Li came to the United States in 1990. He was a retired chemist for Lamplighters Industries in Oak Hill, WV and a substitute teacher in Fayette Co. for many years. Li was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, the Chinese-American Association and the American Chemical Society. He had a joy for gardening and chemistry research.
Survivors include his wife Amelia Jean Jones Chen; step-sons, George A. Metz, Jr. of Charleston and T. Aaron Metz of Morgantown; son, Wei Chen as well as a daughter, brother and grandchildren all of China.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 9, at Calfee Cemetery in Mt. Tabor with Rev. David Snead officiating.
