Juanita Pettrey Ward

Juanita Pettrey Ward, 91, of Daniels, formerly of Beaver, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in a Charleston hospital following a short illness. Born June 1, 1920 in Lockbridge, WV, she was the daughter of the late James and Lina Alice Waddell Pettrey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Ward, Sr.; sisters, Twila Smith, Eva Petrey, Norma Somogyi, Mamie Young and Ruby Canaday; brother, James Pettrey and a grandson, Kevin Michael Lilly.
Juanita was a member of the Beaver United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women where she worked and held office. She was a retired school teacher having taught at several one room schools until she retired from teaching third grade at Sylvia Elementary School. Juanita was a former member of the Shady Spring Women's Club and Shady Spring Garden Club where she held several offices. She loved roses, gardening and reading her Bible. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and Airstreamers and cooking for her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alice Lilly of Daniels, Barbara Rita Perry and husband James of Millwood, WV; son, Harold Ward, Jr. and wife Nancy of Daniels; her loving grandchildren, Eugene Lilly and wife Ann, Russell Lilly, James Perry, Jr., Lisa Wiseman and husband Billy Ray, Brian Ward and wife Angela, Kristie Manley and husband John; great-grandchildren, Kessa, Matthew and Tyler Lilly, Peyton and Rylee Wiseman, Jade, Kalen and Andy Manley, Addison and Cooper Ward.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Beaver United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Stadelman officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
