Joyce Fondale

Joyce Fondale,78, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, May 1, 2009 following an extended illness. Born November 2, 1930 in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lula Pearl Deck Bowman. Joyce was a retired registered nurse having worked at Raleigh General Hospital. She was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and a lifetime resident of Raleigh County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fondale and sisters; Lucille Egnor and Florence Shields.

Survivors include her son, David Fondale and his wife Dee Dee of Crab Orchard, daughters; Mary Thomas of Montgomery, AL and JoAnn Morrison and her husband Greg of Charleston, WV, grandchildren; Stephanie Renee Schulte, Valerie Thomas, Derrick Thomas and Kelly Fondale, great-grandchildren; Katelynn Schulte, Arabella Schulte and Hailey Claire Thomas, numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Father Chapin Engler officiating. A rite of committal will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Calfee Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday where a rosary will be recited by Rev. Mr. Don Wise.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Thomas, Buddy Crumbpacker, William Crumbpacker, Butch Shields, Phillip Fondale and Freddie Meredith.
