John Paul Dr. White

Dr. John Paul White, of Beckley WV, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010, after a long illness. He died a peaceful death under the able care of Bowers Hospice House in his beloved Beckley.
Born in 1939, John grew up in Logan, WV, the son of Gene and Norma White. He graduated with a B.S. degree from West Virginia University in 1963 and completed WVU Dental School in 1967.
He and his wife, Peggy Richmond White, were married in 1964 and relocated in 1967 to Beckley, where he practiced dentistry for 32 years.
John was an Eagle Scout, a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, where he served as treasurer, served as both Deacon and Elder for Beckley Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Beckley Rotary Club, served on the Board of Directors of Black Knight Country Club and was a Charter Member of the Briar Patch Golf Club.
Professionally, John White served as Chairman of the State Board of Health, as President of the New River Dental Society, on Executive Council of the WV State Dental Association, as Chairman of the Delta Dental Insurance Company WV Board of Directors and as a Member of the George M Hollenbeck Operative Dentistry Seminar.
His passion for Fishing and Golf was well known. He was also an avid supporter and follower of the West Virginia Mountaineers.
A loving family man, John was preceded in death by his parents, by his sister, Jean Ann Brezden, and his Father and Mother-in-law Dr. Fred and Mary Jane Richmond. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Richmond White, his daughter, Missie White of Oklahoma City, son Paul S. White (Raye King and family) of Charleston, WV, his Sister Jenny Liepitz (Gary) of Downey, CA, brother-in-law Bill Richmond (Jeannie) of Beckley, brother-in-law Dr. John Richmond (Agnes) of Dalton, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Calfee Funeral Home on Wednesday evening June 2nd from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Beckley Presbyterian Church at 11am on Thursday June 3rd with Dr. Fritz Schilling and Dr. William A. dePrater officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in memory of John White to Bowers Hospice House (454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801) or Beckley Presbyterian Church (203 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, WV 25801)
