Jean Ruth McComb Radford

Jean Ruth MComb Radford, born on June 10, 1933, joined the angels in Heaven on October 3, 2021. Jean was lovingly known by many as “NANA”. Jean lived her early years on a farm in Danese, WV. She was very proud of her accomplishment of going to Bluefied Beauty School to become a certified beautician when girls in the 1950s did not leave the farm for an education. She married Thomas Radford and had 2 daughters, Jacqueline and Dorothy. Jean worked at K-Mart until her retirement to become the full time caregiver of her 2 grandchildren, Justin and Jessica.
She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Jean is preceded in death by Thomas Radford (husband), Guy and Emma McComb (her parents), Earl, Sherman, and Paul (brothers), Maude(sister) and her best friend and niece (Connie McComb King). She is survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn McComb. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Dr. Jacquie McPeake and Mrs.Dorothy Crouch (Robert) and her grandchildren Justin McPeake and Jessica McPeake (Damontay Alexander). Jean appreciated the love and attention of her special nieces, Tiffany King-Sanders and Dawn King Lewis. Jean loved to be visited by the many cousins, nieces and nephews in her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Sarah Jane’s Place in St. Augustine for the love and care that they provided for Jean in her last year. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis King, Mike Sanders, Tony Lewis, Isaac Evans, Chris VonScio, Kelsey Rickman, Jeff McPeake and Robert Crouch. Visitation will be held at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley on Saturday, October 9 beginning at 3PM with services at 4PM with Chaz McPeake officiating. Internment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Garden on Monday.
