Janice Lillian Callaway

Janice Lillian Callaway of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Beckley, WV, passed into eternal life August 29th, 2008, attended by family. The daughter of William Addison and Sarah Holt Hutchinson, she was born Feb. 3, 1925 in Surveyor, WV. Mrs. Callaway was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and was a member of Beckley Presbyterian Church and the Raleigh General Hospital Alumni. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Callaway, Brothers Homer Hutchinson and Hubert Hutchinson, and sisters Mildred Barger, Ruth McCormick, Opal Calfee, Wanda Cooper, and Bonnie Wood. Mrs. Callaway was a dedicated Registered Nurse. She received her nursing diploma from Raleigh General Hospital Nursing School in 1946 and worked as a private duty nurse until she began employment with the Miner’s Memorial Hospital (later, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital) on its opening day in 1956. She retired from BARH in 1987 and then worked at Raleigh General Until age 75. Mrs. Callaway is survived by daughters Carla Jo Bazzarre of Fayetteville, NC and Sarah Lynn(Richard) Shaver of Charleston, WV, grandchildren Angela Lynn(Chris) Davis and Rebecca Lindsay Bazzarre of Fayetteville, NC, Melanie Lisa(Bill) Klotz of Raleigh, NC, Karl Joseph Shaver and Katherine Callaway Shaver of Charleston, WV and greatgrandson Colton Owen Davis of Fayetteville, NC. Visitation will be Monday, September 1, 6-8 pm at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley. The funeral will be at the Beckley Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 2, at 3:00 pm, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
