Earl was graduate of Shady Spring High School and Beckley College. He was a mechanic for the West Virginia State Police, Beckley Detachment. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and a member of the Air National Guard. Earl was a member of the Grace Gospel Church at Beaver, WV.
