Donald Herbert Herby Norman

Donald Herbert “Herby” Norman, 79, of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House. Born October 22, 1933 at Amigo, WV, he was the son of the late Walter Martin and Locy Shrewsbury Norman. Donald was a retired brakeman for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Sophia United Methodist Church, the United Transportation Union and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Norman and his wife Betty; sister, Shelby Mann and her husband Luther; brothers-in-law, Herman McMillion and Jack Saunders.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Arlene Yost Norman; sons, Donald H. Norman, II of Crab Orchard, Philip Norman and Sherri McGraw of Shady Spring; grandchildren, Scott Norman, A.J. Norman and Courtnee James; great grandchild, Aiden Lester; sisters, Evelyn McMillion of North Tonawanda, NY, Lillie Saunders of Beckley; brother-in-law, Roger Yost and his wife Ruth of Cool Ridge as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ernie Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
