Danny Ray Lester

Danny Ray Lester, 55, of Beckley, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 following illness. Born March 11, 1953 in Iaeger, WV, he was the son of Ray G. and Dorothy M. Holcomb Lester of Beckley. He attended Huff Consolidated School, Holden Junior High School and graduated from Logan High School in 1971. Following graduation from high school Danny attended West Virginia University, West Virginia Tech, Bluefield State College, Concord University and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Capital University in Columbus, OH. He formerly worked for island Creek Coal Co., Ranger Fuel, Bluestone Coal, Jeffrey Manufacturing, Peabody Coal and Wilco Logan. He practiced law in Huntington for one year before moving back to Beckley. Danny was currently an attorney for the Department of Health and Human Resources and also operated Lester Law Firm. He was past president of the Beckley-Raleigh County Jaycees, twice Vice President of the WV Jaycees and the 52nd president of the WV Jaycees. He was a member of Beckley Moose Lodge 1606. Danny was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church and was baptized when he was 12 years old. He was the former owner of Laser Distribution Services and an avid WVU fan.

Besides his parents he is survived by his loving to be wife, Lisa Horton of Crab Orchard.
Loads of cousins, uncles and aunts.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Lester officiating. Burial will following the Lester family cemetery in Hanover. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.
Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
