Arless Ward Cozart

April 21, 1921 — January 8, 2012

Arless Ward Cozart, 90, of Fairdale, WV, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House. Born April 21, 1921 at Tipple, WV, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Sarah Evelyn Poke Cozart.

Arless was a former coal miner retiring from Slab Fork Coal Co. He had been a member of the Akers Baptist Church for the past 55 years and a member of the UMWA for 70 years. He was a WW II veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. Arless loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ivory Acord Cozart, grandson, Jackie Davis, Jr. and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son, Kelton Cozart, Sr. and wife Judy of Fairdale; daughter, Bette Davis and husband Jack of Fairdale; grandchildren, Kelton Cozart, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Lanark, Arless Cozart and wife Trishia of Danese, Bobby Davis, Sr. of Fairdale, Eric Davis and wife Michelle of Madison, NC; great grandchildren, Amber Nelson and husband Travis, Kristen Davis, Bobby Davis, Jr., Madi Davis, Dean Davis, Sara Davis, Brittany Bennett and husband Eric, Casey Cozart and Savannah Mullins.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ardith Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Acord Mountain Cemetery. Friend may visit with the family one hour prior to service on Wednesday.

Family member will serve as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
